  • Vanessa Guzman, MS, ME

    CEO & President

    Award-winning healthcare leader and author Vanessa Guzman MS, ME founded SmartRise Health to help healthcare organizations assess complex operational problems and devise strategic, quality improvement, and training initiatives to optimize outcomes and satisfaction among employees, partners, and patients.

    Vanessa leverages her years of experience as a systems engineer and quality improvement executive in a multi-billion dollar health system to make abstract challenges concrete, identifying inputs impacting progress and actionable plans to move forward.

  • Mark Schepis

    CIO & Executive Vice President

    Mark brings over a decade of experience building and managing electronic medical records for leading health systems to support the delivery of world-class patient care.

    Mark’s experience during this time encompassed application UI/UX design, clinical workflow analysis and design, EMR and device interoperability, regulatory development, and end-user training programs.

    Mark has helped health systems meet quality patient care goals through efficient workflow design. Mark firmly believes in the power of technology to support improved health outcomes. Mark is committed to helping patients better manage their care and their health through technology.

  • Namita Azad

    Chief Design & Innovation Officer

    Namita brings over 15 years of diverse experience in growing innovative and transformative operational and clinical health technology solutions to close gaps in care, bring equitable care to underserved communities, and elevate the patient and care team’s experience.

    Namita has worked large academic medical centers, specialty faculty practices, and medical groups to strategy on care delivery solutions across the continuum. Namita believes that equitable care is a basic human right and she is committed to utilizing her skills in leveraging technology to support this mission.

  • Sybil Hodgson, MD

    Chief Medical Officer

    Sybil Hodgson is the Chief of Clinical Services at the Montefiore Medical Group (MMG). This is the largest ambulatory network in the Bronx which includes an array of service locations and innovative programs. The robust network is comprised of Federally Qualified Health Centers, Urgent Care Centers, and the Montefiore School Health Program in over 90 school locations. Dr. Hodgson leads numerous initiatives across their ambulatory network which has over 1,400 associates and is responsible for 300 physicians and advanced practitioners in the Bronx and Westchester.

    Dr. Hodgson’s role and responsibilities includes critical strategic input and leadership over the future direction of the ambulatory network as well as oversight of daily operations. Her operational responsibilities are far reaching and include all aspects of clinical performance and the quadruple aim- quality and safety, efficiency, patient experience and staff wellness.

    Dr. Hodgson completed her medical training at New York Medical College prior to residency training in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Department of Family and Social Medicine.
